ADVOCATE · ELECTED LEADER · SPEAKER · SUNSET ENTHUSIAST
Leadership that redraws the room.
I build systems where the people closest to the problem hold the pen — in schools, in health, and in the halls where funding and policy get decided.
At 21, while still completing my undergraduate studies in business, I made the decision to run for municipal government in Waterloo Region. I wanted to expand my region's definition of what a leader looks and sounds like. This mission was successful: I was elected with nearly 10,000 votes, becoming the youngest and first Muslim elected official in my city. I continue to advocate for accessible education, health equity, and civic engagement because I'm on a mission to build strong everyday leaders. I've helped raise $105M for technology-driven health and education projects, run hundreds of skills-building workshops, and now work to empower young people to take brave risks for good, while simultaneously teaching the adults in their lives how to support them.
